Is there a cocktail rennaissance happening in Portland? In a city known for dedication to craft, it's no surprise that almost every neighborhood in our city of a hundred neighborhoods has at least one proper cocktail bar. Perhaps it's driven in part by the distillery boom kicked off in 1980's Portland by Clear Creek Distillery, followed by at least 16 more since. Undoubtedly it's spurred by the very same things that inspire chefs all over the city: Oregon's incredible agricultural bounty. Wheat, rye, barley, berries, pears and apples inspire and our farmers provide abundant supply. Whatever the reason, creative bartenders, often themselves advocates for supporting local, are stirring and shaking up something special almost anywhere you go in Portland. Join us for a 3-hour walking tour of a couple of the city's most exemplary distilleries and beloved cocktail bars. Don't worry, we'll bookend the tour with some tasty bites too!

Itinerary

We meet at 4pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays and 2pm on Sundays to kick off our festive tour at Giraffe Goods inside Cargo, Portland's own emporium of wonder. Here, we'll toast with a glass of small-batch craft sake and some kara age (Japanese recipe fried chicken) for the walk. The best drinking food, in our humble opinion!

Next, we visit one of Portland's newest and most exciting distillers, tasting through their exhilarating line of spritzers.

Then, we head to one of our favorite grain-to-glass distilleries in all of Oregon to taste through their whiskey, brandies and liqueurs. We'll walk away from this stop with a little gift to remember us by!

Last, we'll conclude the tour at one of Portland's best cocktail bars for a seasonal classic or exciting new libation and some tasty bites.

Along the way we'll learn a bit of Oregon's distilling history and talk all about Portland's place among the ranks of bars and bartenders the world over.
